A few years ago a woman started having a wide variety of medical issues. They ranged from a skin condition all the way to classic heart attack signs and symptoms. Her family doctor ran a complete array of tests over a period of months, but never considered the possibility of a heart attack. The doctor’s lack of concern with ruling out any heart problem worried the husband from the first appointment. The end result was all of her medical issues were allergies, lots of allergies to a host of different things. None of the ailments suggested allergies were the cause; either alone or collectively. Why would they?
The lady had been suffering from extremely dry skin with flaking and itching all over, but mostly on her back. She assumed it was from the brand of soap she was using in the shower. Later she began to notice unusual sensations around her mouth and in her throat, but it didn’t seem to last for any length of time. Still later she started to notice she was having stomach problems on a semi-regular basis. She still had no major concerns with her health in general, nor did she have any idea they might be somehow related to a common cause.

You can get a blood pressure reading with various blood pressure monitors. These include a wrist monitor, an ambulatory blood pressure monitor, or the good old fashioned kind complete with inflatable ball and mercury bubble. No matter which monitor you use, however, a normal blood pressure reading will always fall within a certain range.

Most people have at least heard about cholesterol, usually when they’re about to eat something considered unhealthy. They know that high cholesterol is bad and low cholesterol is good. But that’s about it. Throw in fancy sounding terms like LDL and HDL and most people will ask “What the L?”
Cholesterol, in fact, is found in the cell membranes throughout the human body and is transported via blood. This is why a blood test is needed to determine your cholesterol levels.

Cardiac rehabilitation is a form of therapy and rehabilitation that not many have heard about. Patients who have suffered a heart attack or undergone bypass surgery, their doctors would tend to recommend cardiac rehabilitation. Such rehabilitation is helpful as the patient usually needs to modify his lifestyle to some extent to maintain their best physical condition. Each program is uniquely catered to meet the needs of the patients, taking into consideration factors such as the patient’s age and weight as well as other prevailing illnesses.
A cardiac rehabilitation program aims to improve the overall health of the patient and is relatively holistic. The program also takes into consideration the specific heart problems the patient has and the underlying causes for the heart condition. Some of the areas of focus would include nutrition and weight loss, managing depression and stress, as well as improving the patient’s sense of self-esteem. In some cases, patients withdraw from life due to fear and anxiety issues; such factors are taken into consideration and the rehabilitation program would include therapy to help the patient deal with such emotional stress.

Hypertension, Stroke, Heart Disease are common throughout the United States of America and indeed large parts of the Western World. Epidemiologists attribute much of this down to the Western diet.
Sad to say, after years of much research, Scientists have reached the conclusion that the typical Western Diet (USA & UK especially) is a recipe for a disaster waiting to happen as far as Hypertension and other associate Cardiovascular issues are concerned. Too much Salt, too much of the wrong types of fat (saturated not unsaturated), too many calories, not enough fruit and vegetables, too much alcohol and tobacco; basically, whether we like it or not, living life to the full too much.

The pressure of the blood in our vascular system is important for blood to flow throughout or bodies. With no blood pressure we would simply stop to exist. It is important that the pressure of the blood in our body fall within a normal and healthy range. To much pressure can be the cause of many health problems.
So it is important that you educate yourself about blood pressure and what you can do to control it. There are many thing that we can do to insure that our blood pressure stays within a safe range. When your heart beats, it pumps blood and this in turn creates pressure on the arteries.

What is atherosclerosis?
Athersclerosis starts when the lining of the artery (the endothelium) is damaged or irritated in some way. Fatty substances, cholesterol, cellular waste products, calcium and other substances then start to accumulate around the site of injury / irritation, which in turn causes a thickening of the artery wall. This in turn leads to deposition of plague (a fatty substance). Thickening of the wall of a larger artery is called atheroma.
Plaque can build up sufficiently to significantly reduce blood flow through the artery. However, if the plaque becomes fragile and raptures, it causes blood clots (emboil) to develop, which can then block the blood flow or break off and travel to another part of the body.

When a new disease like aids came out it was all anybody was talking about. It was water cooler talk for a few years. However this disease is the one we should be talking about. The disease I am referring to is heart disease. It is the leading killer of men and women around the world. It is such common place for heart disease today that it seems like we have just decided to accept it rather then fight it. Everyone knows some one that has high blood pressure, had a heart attack or has some kind of cardio-vascular program. Guess what I don’t know anyone with aids. So let’s start taking this disease serious, stop pushing it to the back burner and start fighting back.
In this article I am going to attempt to bring to light the three most common causes of heart disease and work with you so that together we can fight against this terrible disease.
